The study programmme is designed to prepare post-graduate students for work and research in situations requiring knowledge of both the biological, technical and social aspects of tropical agriculture.It focuses on research of agricultural systems in tropical regions in terms of crop and livestock production, appropriate farming technologies and economic aspects of agricultural production. It uses the latest methods and practices in the context of basic biological, environmental, technical, economic and sociological disciplines. The programme is characterized by interdisciplinary approaches that create conditions for the successful application of research results in practice, especially when dealing with foreign development cooperation projects in areas of the tropics and subtropics. Research topics include: agribusiness wildlife management, food sciences, ethnobotany, phytopharmacology, agroforestry, socio-economy, and farmers’ decision making; sustainable management of natural resources, minimal and alternative technologies.
